Att Video Loop
Att Video Loop
π 2026-06-14 | π HTML
## HTML
loop Attribute The `loop` attribute is a boolean attribute used within the HTML `
` element. When present, it specifies that the video will automatically start over from the beginning every time it finishes playing. --- ## Browser Support The `loop` attribute is widely supported across all modern web browsers: * Google Chrome * Mozilla Firefox * Safari * Microsoft Edge / Opera *Note: Internet Explorer 8 and earlier versions do not support the `
` tag or its attributes.* --- ## Definition and Usage * **Type:** Boolean attribute. * **Purpose:** Instructs the browser to continuously replay the video in an infinite loop. * **Behavior:** If the attribute is present, the video will automatically restart from 0:00 immediately after reaching the end. If the attribute is absent, the video will stop playing at the final frame. --- ## Syntax ### HTML5 Standard Syntax In HTML5, boolean attributes can be written in a minimized form: ```html
``` ### XHTML / Strict XML Syntax In XHTML or strict XML-based parsers, attribute minimization is not allowed. The attribute must be fully defined with its value: ```html
``` --- ## Code Examples ### Basic Loop Implementation This example demonstrates a standard video player with controls that loops indefinitely: ```html
Your browser does not support the video tag.
``` ### Background Video Loop (Muted & Autoplay) A common modern web design pattern is using a looping video as a background. For autoplay to work reliably across modern browsers, the video **must** also include the `muted` attribute: ```html
Your browser does not support the video tag.
``` --- ## Key Considerations & Best Practices 1. **Autoplay Policies:** Most modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) block videos with `autoplay` from playing sound automatically. If you want your looping video to autoplay (e.g., for a hero background), always pair `loop` and `autoplay` with the `muted` and `playsinline` attributes. 2. **Performance:** Continuous video looping can consume significant CPU/GPU resources and battery life on mobile devices. Use short, highly compressed video files for looping backgrounds. 3. **Accessibility (a11y):** Infinite looping animations or videos can be distracting or cause issues for users with cognitive disabilities. If a video loops automatically, it is highly recommended to provide a visible pause button so users can control the playback.
