# Other W3C Activities * * * This section outlines some other important and interesting W3C activities. * * * ## The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) WAI defines guidelines on how to make Web content more accessible to people with disabilities. WAI pursues accessibility for all through technology, guidelines, tools, education, research, and development projects. (http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/ "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1_0") * * * ## Mathematical Markup Language (MathML) MathML is an XML standard for describing mathematical notation. The goal of MathML is to enable mathematics to be served, received, and processed on the Web, just as HTML has enabled this functionality for text. (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-MathML/ "Mathematical Markup Language (MathML) 1_01 Specification") * * * ## Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) SVG is a language for describing two-dimensional graphics in XML. SVG allows for three types of graphic objects: vector graphic shapes, images, and text. Feature sets include transformations, clipping paths, alpha masks, filter effects, template objects, and extensibility. [W3C SVG 1.1 Recommendation](http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/ "Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) 1_1 Specification") [W3C SVG 1.2 Working Draft](http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG12/ "Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Full 1_2 Specification") * * * ## Ink Markup Language (InkML) InkML is an XML data format for representing digital ink data that is entered with an electronic pen or stylus as part of a multi-modal system. (http://www.w3.org/TR/InkML/ "Ink Markup Language (InkML)") * * * ## Internationalization The goal of the W3C Internationalization activity is to propose and coordinate, within W3C and together with other organizations, any technologies, protocols, guidelines, and activities that make it easier to use W3C technologies worldwide, across different languages, scripts, and cultures. (http://www.w3.org/International/ "W3C Internationalization (I18n) Activity") * * * ## Voice Browser Activity The work of W3C's Voice Browser Activity is to make Web interaction possible through spoken commands and speech synthesis. [Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML)](http://www.w3.org/TR/voicexml20/ "Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML) Version 2_0") [Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML)](http://www.w3.org/TR/speech-synthesis/ "Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) Version 1_0") (http://www.w3.org/TR/speech-grammar/ "Speech Recognition Grammar Specification Version 1_0") [Voice Browser Call Control (CCXML)](http://www.w3.org/TR/ccxml/ "Voice Browser Call Control CCXML Version 1_0") * * * ## W3C Reference Manual: (http://www.w3.org/)
