404 NOT FOUND!
We're sorry, the article you are looking for cannot be found!!
The 404 page is an essential part of any website, playing a crucial role in user experience and SEO optimization. It typically appears when a user accesses a page that does not exist or has been deleted on the website, resulting in a 404 error returned by the server. If the site administrator fails to set up a custom 404 page, dead links will appear, which negatively impacts search engine crawling and indexing.
Origin of the 404 Not Found Error
It is said that before the third technological revolution, the internet was essentially a large central database located in room 404. At that time, all requests were manually processed. If the requested file could not be found in the database or if the user entered the wrong file number, the system would return a message: "room 404: file not found." After the internet became popular, people gradually adopted "404" as the standard error code indicating that a file could not be found on the server. However, historical research confirms that room 404 never actually existed.
Two Major Benefits of Setting Up a 404 Page
- Guide users not to leave the website, enhancing user experience.
- Prevent the appearance of dead links.
