404 NOT FOUND!

Sorry, we couldn't find the article you need!!

The 404 page is an essential part of any website. It plays a significant role in user experience and SEO optimization. A 404 error occurs when users visit pages that do not exist or have been deleted on the site. If webmasters don't set up a custom 404 page, dead links will appear, which can negatively impact search engine indexing.

Origin of 404 Not Found

Legend has it that before the Third Industrial Revolution, the form of the Internet was one large central database located inside Room 404. At that time, all requests were manually processed by humans. If the requested file could not be found in the database, or if the requester had written down the wrong file number, they would receive a return message: room 404 : file not found. After the rise of the Internet, people became accustomed to using 404 as the error code for files not being found on servers. Of course, historical verification shows that the legendary Room 404 does not actually exist.

Two Major Benefits of Setting Up a 404 Page

  • Guide users not to close the website, enhancing user experience.
  • Prevent the appearance of dead links on the website.
