404 NOT FOUND!
Sorry, we couldn't find the article you were looking for!!
The 404 page is an essential part of any website, carrying significant responsibility for user experience and SEO optimization. A 404 error typically occurs when a user tries to access a page that doesn't exist or has been deleted from the site. If the webmaster hasn't set up a custom 404 page, dead links may appear, which can negatively impact search engine indexing when crawlers encounter such URLs.
Origin of 404 Not Found
Legend has it that before the Third Industrial Revolution, the internet was essentially one large central database located in Room 404. At that time, all requests were handled manually by staff. If the requested file wasn't found in the databaseβeither because it didnβt exist or due to incorrect numberingβthe user would receive a message saying: "Room 404: File Not Found." After the rise of the modern internet, people adopted 404 as the standard HTTP status code indicating that a server could not locate a requested resource. Of course, historical verification shows that the legendary Room 404 never actually existed.
Two Major Benefits of Setting Up a Custom 404 Page
- Guides users to stay on your site instead of leaving, enhancing their overall experience.
- Prevents broken or dead links within your website.
