404 NOT FOUND!

We're sorry, the article you are looking for cannot be found!!

The 404 page is an essential part of any website, responsible for both user experience and SEO optimization. A 404 error occurs when a user attempts to access a page that does not exist or has been deleted on the website. If the site administrator does not set up a custom 404 page, dead links will appear, which negatively impacts search engine crawling and indexing.

Origin of the 404 Not Found Error

It is said that before the third technological revolution, the internet was essentially a large central database located in room 404. At that time, all requests were handled manually. If the requested file could not be found in the database, or if the user entered an incorrect file number, they would receive a response: "room 404: file not found." After the internet grew popular, people gradually adopted "404" as the standard error code for "file not found." However, in reality, there is no such room 404.

Two Major Benefits of Setting Up a 404 Page

  • Guide users to stay on the website, enhancing user experience.
  • Prevent dead links from appearing on the site.
