404 NOT FOUND!

Sorry, we couldn't find the article you were looking for!!

The 404 page is an essential part of any website, carrying significant responsibility for user experience and SEO optimization. A 404 error typically occurs when a user accesses a page that does not exist or has been deleted on the site, and the server returns a 404 error. If the webmaster hasn't set up a custom 404 page, dead links may appear, which can negatively affect search engine indexing when crawlers access such URLs.

Origin of 404 Not Found

Legend has it that before the Third Industrial Revolution, the form of the internet was one large central database located in Room 404. At that time, all requests were manually processed by humans. If the requested file wasn't found in the database due to incorrect numbering or other reasons, users would receive a message: room 404 : file not found. After the rise of the modern internet, people became accustomed to using 404 as the standard error code indicating that a server could not locate a requested file. Of course, historical verification shows that the legendary Room 404 never actually existed.

Two Major Benefits of Setting Up a Custom 404 Page

  • Guides users not to close the website, enhancing user experience.
  • Prevents the appearance of broken/dead links on your site.
